Hi My name is Sarah, I am qualified Trauma Informed and Neuro-Affirming Specialist Therapeutic Counsellor with over 25yrs professional experience within the field. I enjoy walking my dogs, spending time with our horses, baking, live music and weight training in my spare time. I find nature can be hugely restorative and can be a constant in our busy world. On my walks I will try to be mindful and notice small things that bring me joy and help me feel grounded. Water has been my greatest healer; I love being around it, in it or on it; cold water swimming became part of my life during the pandemic and I cannot speak highly enough of the physical and mental health benefits of cold water therapy.
My professional journey began following a career path in Social; however, after fifteen years in the Social care profession I decided on a change.
I continued my love of training and empowering people by working with the PDA Society (Pathological Demand Avoidance) as a training provider for the last eight years training care providers, local authorities, parents and carers as well as completing my Residential Managers Diploma managing domiciliary and residential services.
I have been a single/ sole parent to four thriving children who are now teens/young adults since 2017 and navigating work/life balance has become quite the art form in our household. One of my children has been through the education system and the others have had a variety of home education/alternative provision and EOTAS.
Since starting my practice I have been fine tuning my specialism in neurodivergent trauma processing and the different ways to support this.
Alongside my normal therapy sessions and psycho-education I am now able to offer Rewind Therapy to treat trauma, PTSD, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, nightmares and phobias; which is a gentle and quick, non-intrusive approach of detaching and processing distressing memories; meaning you do not need to share your trauma with the therapist.
I have been on my own developmental therapeutic journey for for last five years and have enjoyed reshaping my life and strengthening my values and ethics and adding to my qualifications with my Diploma in Counselling.
I am fully insured with an enhanced DBS and am a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy having completed my Diploma in Counselling.
